Invisible bike helmets

I just found out that the Hövding invisible bike helmet has gone into production and is now for sale. I saw a video about this idea a while back and thought it looked pretty interesting. It's quite expensive — £300 — and also it uses electricity, so it's not obviously better than a conventional bike helmet. I'm not a cyclist so I can't evaluate it further than that, but it's certainly interesting.

If you're a cyclist reading this, I'd love to know what you think.

I'm completely habituated to a standard helmet, having now used one for say 30 years. I think it would take quite a bit of time to get used to having something around my neck, and that having something that *had* to be done up all the way would potentially freak me out.

And I'm not sure that it wouldn't be worse in terms of heat holding in the middle of summer, which is a real problem here.

Hmm, yes, those could both cause problems. I hadn't thought about the heat issue, and there doesn't seem to be anything in their FAQ about it, though there are answers assuring people they can wear scarves underneath it. Perhaps due to its being invented in Sweden!
